Back in 1993, the brilliant, vibrant colors of Velvia slide film were what first drew me to Fujifilm. Over 25 years later, I still love the rich saturated looks that the Velvia film simulation gives me, but I've also enjoyed experimenting with other color profiles as well.
It's similar to CLASSIC CHROME, but with slightly richer "Fuji-style" colors that you see in the PROVIA and the Pro Neg film sims. To me, it looks like Pro Neg Hi, but with brighter highlight, darker shadows and less saturation.
Compared to Velvia, which is sometimes visual color overload, (in a good way!), CLASSIC Neg is much more "representational," which is a type of look that drives my creativity in a huge way. As much as I love those rich Velvia colors, I'm also very much intrigued with the look of CLASSIC Neg.
Watch the video below to see my thoughts on this highly useful film sim and then see what you can do with it next time you're outside shooting photos!
Thanks for reading and have a great rest of your week!
